Career Connections is a one semester class that is a freshman elective at Burleson High School. While enrolled in Career Connections students will explore high school, investigate careers and career opportunities and discover thier options for the future. Emphasis will be on career research and choices, goal planning, budgeting and banking and the improtance of making smart decisions. Students will refer to Sean Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens as well as work through career orientation curriculum. I
believe this will be one of the most important classes of thier high school career. We will be using the internet to explore RealityCheck (which can be accessed through the BHS Counseling Website) and www.careercruising.com along with the TexasCares software program. Students will complete an indepth research project of a career of thier choosing.

1 box of markers or colored pencils
Guidelines for Student Behavior
1. You may engage in any behavior that does not create a problem for you or anyone else in class.
2. If you find yourself with a probelm you may solve it by any means that does not cause a problem for anyone else in the class.
3. You may engage in any behavior that does not jeapordize the safety or learning of yourself or others. Unkind actions or words will not be tolerated.
4. Cell phones must be off and out of sight.
5. I-pods, MP3 players or other electronic devices will not be allowed in class.
