Convert Your HCK2 Website to a New First Class 9.0 Site
Getting Started:
These directions are for those teachers who will be converting their old HCK2 sites to new First Class 9.0 sites, but who need to transfer information from their old sites to the new one.
1.Log in to your First Class Email.
2. Click on the Web Publishing Icon.
3. Click once on the Web Publising icon in the top of the navigation panel to select it.
4. On the tool bar click the New Page button.
5. Select Web Folder and click OK.
6. Right Click on the Web Folder you just created and select Properties.
7. Rename the folder to My New Site.
8. Click once on the My New Site folder to select it.
9. On the tool bar, click the New Page button.
10. Select Welcome Page and click OK.
11. Change the title and text of the page to suit you.
12. Click Save .
13. Click once on the My New Site folder to select it.
14. On the toolbar click the Appearance button.
15. Choose a layout. Don't worry about the color scheme, you can change that later.
19. Click Ok.
20. Click once on the My New Site folder to select it.
21. On the toolbar , click View in Browser to view your new site and your welcome page.
22. Go back to your email and click once on the My New Site folder to select it.
BE CAREFUL: Do not click the appearance button UNLESS you have selected a container or page from your NEW SITE. Clicking the appearance button with a container or page from an HCK2 page selected will take down your old HCK2 site.
24. Cut and paste information from your old site into your new site.
25. When you have moved all of your information from the old site to the new site, Delete your old pages. Be careful NOT to delete the My New Site folder!
26. Close your Web Publishing window and return to your email desktop.
27. Double click on the Web Publishing icon to reopen your Web Publishing window (this will clear out all of the old deleted files).
28. Expand the My New Site folder so you can see the files listed beneath it.
29. Highlight all of the files in the My New Site folder and right click on them.
30. Select Move to Folder.
31. In the pop up that appears, select the Web Publishing folder.
32. Click ok.
33. All the files should have moved to the Web Publishing folder.
34. Verify that the My New Site folder is empty and delete it.
- Click on the Web Publishing folder once to select it. Click the appearance button and reselect your appearance. (you have to do this or you won't be able to view your site).
35. Close the Web Publishing folder and return to the email desktop.
36. Right Click on the Web Publishing folder and select Properties.
37. Change the name of the Web Publishing folder to the title of your website.
38. Click OK.
40. The ~ symbol is usually in the upper left most corner of your keyboard and requires the use of the shift key. (some keyboards differ).
